One month old!

Little man still doesn't have complete control of his eyeballs yet! I think the crossed eyes are cute

Look at all those chins!

Christmas eve

Playing on his playmat. His Christmas present from Mommy and Daddy

wow! time flies doesn't it! I can't believe he will be one month old tomorrow! He has changed so much it makes me want to cry. Just today he started reaching for things and it shocked me. He is growing up so fast and I can't take it all in fast enough. We weighed him yesterday and the chunky monkey is up to about 11 lbs. He is eating like crazy and I still don't know where it's all going! He is smiling for real now. Hopefully I can capture a picture of it soon and post it. We had a great Christmas and hope you did to! Here are some more recent pics.

More pics upon demand! Nash is doing great and growing well. He had his 2 week appt yesterday and he now weighs 9 lbs and is 21 1/2 inches long! The pediatrician seemed pleased and all is well. He has a little bit of fluid in his ears but hopefully adjusting his incline while he is sleeping will clear it up or at least prevent an ear infection. Merry Christmas everyone!

Birth Story

Nash is here! He was born on Sunday November 29th, 2009 at 805 in the morning after a marathon labor and delivery. We arrived at the hospital on Friday afternoon around 4 for an induction because we thought he was going to be a big boy. I was induced overnight on my very same floor that I work on! It was a bizarre feeling being a patient! I didn't sleep much that night because I was too busy watching the monitors the entire time making sure that he was ok. We tranferred down to labor and delivery around 5 am and they started the pitocin-the medicine to make me contract- around 530 that morning. Around 1030 the doc broke my water. About 1230 I decided that getting an epidural might relax me enough to progress things a little more quickly so we got that taken care of. Thats when things just came to a screeching halt and we labored and labored and labored some more. Finally around 4 in the morning they told us it was time to start pushing. By this time I had developed a fever because my water had been broken for so long so it was making his little heart rate high. After the nurse was ok with his heartrate we began pushing around 540 in the morning. I proceeded to push for the next few hours continuing through the shift change and into the morning. I didn't think I had anything left in me by this point. I hadn't eaten since Friday evening and had slept a total of maybe 3-4 hours since then, but my nurses cheered me on. Around 7am I noticed that I started feeing a lot more pain, which I thought was just normal but right before delivery we finally discovered that my epidural wasn't working anymore so like it or not I got to discover childbirth the good ole fashioned way--without any pain meds. As soon as we saw eachother I completely forgot about everything that had happened and it was love at first sight. Nash ended up needed IV antibiotics due to my high fever during labor, which broke my heart seeing his little hand taped down and him not being able to use it or touch me in any way.

He is such a good baby. I know everyone thinks that their baby is good, but so far he is just precious. He hardly ever cries and settles down very quickly when he does get upset. We have our first pedi appt tomorrow, which I hope goes well. They wanted to see him fairly quickly because of him being on the medication while we were in the hospital.

here are just a few of the billions of pics we have! enjoy

Nash's Birthday!!

Well it's official....we are going to have this baby before the end of the week! The appt today was pretty good and noneventful. I'm still only dilated 1cm so we are going to check into the hospital Friday afternoon to start the induction of labor process. We are doing it two weeks before his due date in the hopes that he will still be able to fit and to hopefully avoid a c/section. It could be a long and frustrating process so please pray for us that everything would go as smoothly as possible and that Nash would get here safely, and hopefully quickly! Happy Thanksgiving! The next post will be posted with some pictures of our sweet baby boy!

finished nursery...I think

So I think maybe we have finally finished the nursery. I added the rug, lamp and blanket over the chair yesterday. I think it turned out pretty stinkin cute myself. Hope you guys enjoy.

We had a good appt today. The sonogram was perfect. He weighs somewhere between 8.8 lbs and 8.12 lbs. whew..big boy! They said he was somewhere around 20 1/2 inches long and that his feet were up in my ribs (she really didn't have to tell me that). After last night there was no doubt who was running this show and if he wasn't interested in sleeping, then neither was I. So the plan is to induce labor starting next Friday night if nothing has happened before then. Whoo-hoo! A plan! I like having things planned out and this makes me happy! So now we can enjoy Thanksgiving day together and then go have a baby! Potentially he has a birthday 11-28!!! I will keep you guys updated.

36 weeks!!

36 weeks was on Saturday!! yay!! We are so excited and anxious. I told Eric the other night that I can't wait to meet him and he looked at me crazy and said "what are you gonna do?? shake his hand and say Hi I'm your mom?" I'm glad my hubby got a kick out of that statement, but surely other people understand what I mean...right?? He has been inside of me for 9 months now and I want to "meet" this creature that has been keeping me up at night and making me run to the bathroom every 16 minutes and giving me heartburn that I thought was only reserved for 55 year old men who just ate a 65 ounce steak! I can't wait to tell him thank you for allowing me to experience all that, and that I'd gladly do it all again in a second. It's so crazy to be so in love with something you've never even laid your eyes on. ok...enough with the sappy.

In other news...I'm huge! and I mean huge. He gets his weigh-in on Thursday and we will see just how big this sumo wrestler is. Once he gets his weight done then we will talk things over with the Doc and decide where to go from here. Eric is convinced he's coming on the 24th. I think he just wants him to have the same "birthday" day of the month as he does! that would be fine with me too! wow..that's only a week away!!

I think this might have to be my last belly posting...the belly is almost to big to fit in the camera lens! Pray for us Thursday as we potentially decide on a birthday for this little boy.

On a side note--most of you know where I got the name Nash from, but in case you didn't...I had an awesome patient back in the spring right before we got pregnant who had a 3ish year old named Nash. I loved the name and the family and knew that if I had a boy his name needed to be Nash. Well...They came in last week as a patient again and I got to tell them the great news that their little boy had a namesake! they were so excited. The mom said that Nash wanted to name the baby she is pregnant with Nash, so now she can tell him that someone else already has the name! haha

Hi all--

35 weeks and we have a full sized baby...literally. At our sonogram yesterday she estimated his weight to be 7 1/2 lbs and 19.5 inches long! No wonder I can't breathe very well anymore! He is healthy and thriving so now the big decision is when to get him out of there. If we do it before 38 weeks I would have to undergo an amniocentesis, which is where they take a little bit of the amniotic fluid from around him by inserting a needle thru my stomach and into his amniotic sac. I said thanks but no thanks to that. there are just way too many complications for me to justify doing such a procedure. I am happy with him being in there until he either decides to come out on his own or it is perfectly safe to bring him out. We will just wait and pray that everything turns out well and until then just try and enjoy these last few weeks with it being just Eric and I. I just have a hunch that he will be here very soon after Thanksgiving though.

In other news...check out that bedding and crib! Isn't it beautiful! I love it and it means so much more that it is hand crafted and will stay in the family forever! My mom did a great job on the bedding. It turned out exactly like I wanted. I know it's not a typical baby look but we like it and that's all that matters right? My Dad labored for more hours than he likes to admit over that crib and it shows. It is gorgeous! Thanks to my parents for all their hard work!

So the countdown begins....everyone keep in touch frequently for updates as I'm sure these last few weeks will be full of them.

34 weeks and my last baby shower.

all my sweet work friends!

Hi everyone! I can't believe it but I'm 34+ weeks! yikes! everything is going well and coming together. I've decided to go kindof "nesting" crazy in the last few weeks because I'm already so tired and sore I can't imagine how it's going to be in the last few weeks. The nursery is almost done! yay! My Dad is finishing up the stain on the crib as I type and when it gets over here I will take lots of pics for everyone to see the final product. I know everyone that has seen the material is wondering how it's all coming together so I will show you as soon as I can!

I had my last baby shower from all my co-workers over the weekend and they were so generous! they got me everything left that I was needing and my Mom and I finished up with a few trade-ins of duplicates yesterday. Eric and I managed somehow to put the carseat and stroller together and we are set! ( I think) who actually knows..I' ve never done this before so we will just see how it goes and do our best.

I have another Drs appt on Thurs and we get to have another sono as well. Hopefully all goes well and he is still growing well--but not too well!

My hubby on the other hand seems to be set on us trading both our cars out within weeks of eachother. He got a new truck/suv last week and now is dead set on getting rid of mine to get a more fuel economic "commuter" car. We shall see where that goes.

Hope all is well with everyone and enjoy this gorgeous weather!

32 week belly pics

The belly looks much smaller with clothes over it right??
This one was taken a week before the others though

Hi all-

I've been getting some slack lately about not updating my blog...so here ya go! I guess to me it just seems like the movie Groundhog Day, except that the scale keeps seeming to change on me. haha
Nash is doing well. He seems to like the head down position and is comfy with staying there. I like the fact that his karate kicks are not on my bladder anymore.

We had an appt last week. Just the doc listening to his heartbeat and measuring my belly/his size. Apparently he hasn't decided to slow down growing any, so we will get another sonogram next week to see if he continues to be about 2 weeks big or not. He is definitely showing me more of his personality. He does not like certain positions that I lay in and lets me know until I finally move and then he settles in again. He averages about two bouts of the hiccups per day. I find myself already trying to soothe him when he gets them because it seems to agitate him so much. The Mommie mode is kicking in already I guess!

Eric has been keeping himself busy hunting as much as possible. He says he has to squeeze as much in before the birth since I decided to have this baby right in the middle of hunting season! I reminded him that he had a little something to do with it too which got no response from him!

On another note...since when did I move to Seattle and not even know it?? all this rain is becoming a bummer. I know its good for nature, but man am I tired of cleaning mud off of doggies paws right about now!

By the way...the countdown ticker is really starting to freak me out. That 47 day thing is scary! especially when I am fairly certain I will have a 1-2 week old by then! yikes!!! Maybe I should just gestate for the length of time an elephant does???

HUGE baby

the above picture is him looking right at you. the top of his head is to the right and you can see his eye sockets, nose, mouth and chin

this pic is the same with him looking at us. To me it looks like he is smiling with his mouth open (:

We had a sono on Thursday because our Dr. thought that Nash was continuing to measure big and he wanted to get an idea of just how big. Well....he's huge! The sonographer guesstimated his weight to be 4lbs 3 oz and said he was almost 18 inches long! Most newborns are somewhere around 18 inches long! She said he was really tall and lean right now but he definitely has some fat cheeks. She also said she could tell he already has some hair. Very cool considering I was bald until I was 2.

So we just continue on for now and worry about what to do and when to do it later. He's very healthy and I continue to feel well and am healthy for now.

First off..the best news--I passed my diabetic test! whoo-hoo! Best news ever and just in time for the baby showers that we were blessed with having this past weekend. On Saturday my Mom, Mimi and I traveled to Granbury for a wonderful shower that happened to be during a rain shower that day as well. Then on Sunday my sweet friends in our Lifegroup had a very fancy little shower/luncheon for me and Sara who is due within days of me.

Nash's room is filling up quickly. This little boy doesn't even know how spoiled he is yet! Hopefully we can teach him to always be gracious about how blessed he is. Plenty of pictures this time and more talking soon after our sonogram and appt tomorrow. We will find out just how big this kiddo is. I am so excited to see him and even more excited to see Eric's reaction after he sees how much he has changed since the last time we got to take a sneak peak at him.
